Messages From The Stars

The RAH Band is the brainchild of studio musician and producer Richard A. Hewson who had previously worked with such acts as The Beatles, Diana Ross, and Supertramp. This track needs no introduction, especially since it has been gaining traction after being played on a Stones Throw podcast via none other than Dam Funk a while back. This is one of those songs that immediately grabs your attention and never lets go, and I totally lose my shit once the synth solo starts. This is classic 1983 greatness, enjoy this track while spaced out!

RAH Band-Messages From The Stars (Long Wave Mix)

I also have a special treat for all you boogie monsters out there! Snacking is one of my favorite past times, especially when those snacks come in the form of rare boogie tracks. This is a special mix put together by my man Eddy Funkster from L.A's Funkmosphere crew. From start to finish, this mix runs the gamut of hard to find songs and rarities. Per usual, this mix is all 45's and pure aural goodness! Track list will be up in the comments soon unless one of you is cavalier enough to provide it before I can.

It has also been brought to my attention about the joint stereo aka "mono" recordings....I am waiting on a new audio interface which will fix that right up...simmer down now.

...fcuking love that "message from the stars" song.... What a great song!!! I only found out about it a few months ago. And since then have been playing at least once a day. Pure joy! I first listened to this version: "snob - message from the stars"... only later found out about the rah band version. And now I can't decide which version is better... ;-) Here is a youtube link to listen to the "snob" version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjgH_n9c9tY

Anyone has an idea which version was first? Cheers; DubMe

Track #1 -- Pyramid Plus -- Comin At Ya

Track #3 -- Starbound -- Party In The City (1982 Hep Me, New Orleans)

Track #4 -- David Sea -- Night After Night (1984 crown Limited,
    Alabama)

Track #7 -- Cash -- Hot Thang (1983 Casbar Records recorded in Parma, OH)

Track #8 -- James Cobbin & Prime Cut-- It's Music (same group who later did "Caught In The Middle" on Tuckwood out of Southern California)

Track #9 -- Gee Gee & Gym Band -- Majic Kaboola (i think this was an
    Italian import from about 1982-83?)

Track #10 -- Ramsey 2c3D -- Nice and Easy /1985 Budweiser Tournament Of
Jams (This was an entry from the San Francisco Bay Area's KRE Radio
Station. Ramsey 2c3D was also involved in "how much would you spend" & "rock the groove")

Track #11 The Mighty Passions -- "Baby Dumplin" -- 1984 (Felton Pilate from ConFunkShun was involved in this recording)

Track #12 Kick -- The Right Thing (1986, same Memphis group that did
    "Lollipop" in 1983)

Track #13 Sammy Relford "Night Person" Originally came out on Grand Records from the Houston area and was later picked up by around 1984 on ALA Records out of Los Angeles which i think had a new extended mix that had added sparser, crisper drum machine kicks.

For Eddy Funkster-Boogie 45 Snacks Mix, I have the LP where
number 11 track is from, @21'48''
11 > Scheer Music: Falling Back In Love 1984

and I finally found what was track 16, @34'34''

Wow - great blog! Came across you after searching to find a value on the Messages From The Stars 7". I know the 12" fetches £25+, but I've just bought the 45 for £3 and wanted to know if it was as valuable, but I can't find one for sale ANYWHERE! Maybe it's rare!? I downloaded the Boogie Snacks mix too! Eddy did another superb mix under his other name UOME. I'll try and find the title when I get home, but it's got Sweet Heat by Chocolate Milk and Girls by General Caine. One of my fave mixes!! Anyway, keep up the great work, I'll be keeping an eye on this blog fo sho!! Peace. DJ Blowie
