Doomsday

No need to mention why a friend posted up a youtube link to tenured lounge singer Danny Darrow's Doomsday on his facebook wall over this past weekend. Even if yet another apocalypse was anticlimactic as ever, at least it inspired me to dig up this sought after cosmic disco rock single, as well as a couple of the other percussion heavy numbers Danny put out before he went back to singing Sinatra covers and Christmas albums (which are good btw):

Danny Darrow - Doomsday (Extended)
Danny Darrow - Baby Let Your Love Run Free
Danny Darrow - Telephones (Extended)

I've been listening too Telephones,a lot of late,(well since this post as i didn't have it,cheers)the Vocals are really 'Pet Shop Boys' but before the PSB,i wonder if this was an influence?
I'd forgotten how good his stuff was, although 'Doomsday' has more then a passing resemblance too 'vibes - African Suite'
And in the words of Pat Le i like everything African stache)'that being said' both tunes are of the highest order.

    Regards

    *above comment*

    Danny Darrow is your dad?!?

Is he aware that all over the world he is loved and admired for 'Doomsday' and 'Telephones' and amongst those "in the know" they are considered two of the best examples of late 70s/early 80s cosmic disco music?

Has he any unreleased material in this style from this time period and has he ever spoken in print or on the net about this period in his musical career...if not, I would love to ask him about it as I know plenty of people who would be fascinated in this chapter of his life.

I nearly forgot to say..great post Black Shag..seventies and early eighties heavy apocalyptic electronic disco music, you can't beat it...!
