The Melancholy of Winter Can't Get Me Down

Here are some of my favorite Frankie Knuckles remixes. These are from an era of soulful deep house, before thick neck British blokes with shaved arms took over. Here is also a live mix from Gallery 21 in Chicago from 1987. Sorry for the marginal sound quality, please hit us up if you have any high quality mixes.

Frankie Knuckles Playlist:

  4. Change: Glow of Love
  5. Ian Dury: Spasticus Autisticus

  1. British blokes don't shave their arms,we leave that 2 other camp English(tho they can't spell words properly!)speaking countries-who invent sttyles of music & kill it & we normally improve! Also aren't Electribe 101 English! Eclectro from England(UK only exists outside England/Scotland)!

  2. Wasn't Frankie Knuckles like Electribe 101's in house producer,as he also done 'Tell Me When The Fever Ended' & another one i've forgotten.
As my 12''s have been in the loft 4 a while-I know i either have a gatefold that fits 2 singles or mixes & that one has an enlarged heavily made up eye. And another i have is a limited edition, which has a black cover with the Frankie Knuckles dub mixes on it-do u know those mixes? Eclectro,England.

  4. I would seriously doubt that British late 90's progressive house DJs made any improvements to early deep house.

  5. I wouldn't know what Progressive House means,as i think house music in general got stale over here after 92 anyway. The last nail in the coffin being Jungle(a UK invention-oh dear!). I remember first hearing the Chicago stuff in 86,Deep House,Acid,Detroit Techno,New Beat,etc-they were all good but House is pretty much dead 2 me. What do u think of tracks like 'Someday-CE CE ROGERS','Promised Land-ANTHONY THOMAS & JOE SMOOTH','Promised Land-STYLE COUNCIL','That's The Way Love Is-TEN CITY'? Then how about later stuff(that proves house isn't quite dead!)-'Touch Me-RUI DA SILVA','Future Of The Future-DEEP DISH'?
    Eclectro,England.

  6. Frankie Knuckles at his best is way beyond most other producers and djs. I love your early house mp3 posts. THANK YOU!

UK didn't hurt house as much as dark emotions that needed to come out. Over time I've come to love music that celebrates life with true emotion. Celebration. Whistle Song!!!

  11. eclectro,

I really like that CeCe track. I tend to like the more druggy, atmospheric, (NY) garage sound and not so much the vocally or gospel influenced house.

  12. I took a risk on Someday when i found a white label 4 a quid. As it said Someday i bought it,took it home & recorded it on my dad's B&O music centre(it made gr8 recordings!). Then i sold it 4 a fiver! The recording i have on my mp3 player is still that one! I think when i got it was about 93! Later 2 b sampled by Liquid on XL label(home 2 biggest tunes of early 90's in England).
